The second signature was dropped starting with the D series. This first four in the series had the signature of the US Treasurer followed by the Secretary of the Treasury. Many people are unaware of this, but the 1953 $2 bill series actually goes up to āGā, with the later series featuring only a single signature. The 1953 $2 bill series are based on the signatures on the bills. The date does not have anything to do with its printing because it was printed between June 1949 and January 1953. A total of 52 million of these were printed.
